Historical Background

In 1952 the Swedish artist Mark Sylwan presented a mechanical construction kit called FAC to the Technical museum in Stockholm. The magazine “Teknikens Varld” wrote about a technical wonder in miniature.

At this time toy construction kits like Meccano were the only ones on the market. The new machine construction kit was something totally different. The basic elements consisted of 4 mm rods, designed beams, and 12 different joining plates as well as a large number of well made spur gears and disc wheels. This kit contained over 200 detailed sections made with great precision.
